OUR MISSION

The PTO's mission is to provide meaningful, educational, and fun activities for our students. We have exciting things planned for our BFIS students throughout the school year. Please support your BFIS PTO fundraisers so that we can enhance the school experience for our students through field trips, after school activities and assemblies. PTO meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 4:15 p.m. in the BFIS Media Center.

BFIS PTO MEETING MINUTES
September 9, 2014
Call to order at 4:05 p.m.
Approval of June Minutes
Approval Motioned by Amber Guilmette and seconded by CarolBogner. Motion passed 
Introduction of 2014/2015 PTO Board Members
Amber Guilmette introduced the board members
Treasurer’s Report
o
Ending fund balance of $14,700.04 as of August 31, 2014
o
$26.69 per student was raised last year. $30 per student was spent
Principal’s Report
o
Parent pick-up down to 8 minutes this year
o
Student count is 567 to date, 206 students moved on to 7thgrade with 180 coming in to 4th grade
o
6th grade band has 120 students interested in joining
o
School Dentist will visit on November 6th
o
Book fair set for week of Parent teacher Conferences. Volunteers needed
o
Spelling Bee set for January 12th, 13th, & 14th
Upcoming Events
o
Make It Count on October 1st from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
•
Renee Todd priced out materials from ACE at a cost of no more than $75.00 for an event. Heidi Contreras motioned to purchase the materials. Rachel Davis seconded. Motion passed
•
Renee Todd spoke with Paul From GOB Gymnastics, they will be running  an event
•
Katherine Carpenter suggested we buy pens at $84 orSmencils at $160 as a prize for bringing in money. Carol Bogner motioned to buy the Smencils. Heidi Contreras Seconded. Motion passed
•
Kick off assembly on September 19th at 2:30p.m.
•
Money due on October 9th  
•
Awards assembly on October 13th at 2:00p.m.
o
Haunted Harvest on November 7th. Chaired by Heidi Contreras
o
Pop Corn Day will be in November. Headed by Katherine Stewart.  Date TBD

Other Business
o
Market Day Rep Kathy Rooney was introduced and discussed how BFIS would benefit with their fundraising program. Renee Todd motioned to sell Market Day. Motion passed. Marie Manion will chair for October. Chairperson for upcoming months is  still needed
o
Little Caesers Pizza kits sales will begin in December before Christmas break. Kits will be ready for pick up at the end of January
o
Katherine Carpenter offered to research different assemblies for this school year. She suggested that we up our assemblies budget, this will be decided at a later date
o
A Newsletter will be sent home to get info out to parents that are not signed up for PTO emails

 NOMINATIONS ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED FOR THE 2014-15 BFIS PTO BOARD

If you, or someone you know would be interested in serving on the BFIS PTO Board, please fill out a nomination form. Forms are located in/near the office.
We will be accepting nominations until 4:15 p.m. on May 7. Nominees will be contacted in advance, so they may have the opportunity to accept or reject their nomination prior to elections. 
Elections will be held at PTO meeting on May, 7 in the BFIS Media Center at 4:15 p.m.
Positions are as follows:
·         President (or 2 co-presidents)
·         Vice President
·         Secretary
·         Treasurer
·         Public Relations Secretary
